People: Bluecrew, EmployBridge, TrueBlue, Alliance Industrial Solutions

EmployBridge, the largest US industrial staffing firm in terms of revenue, named Deborah Mcfarlane as chief people officer. Mcfarlane has more than 20 years of experience in human resource roles both at US-based and global operations. Mcfarlane most recently served as head of human resources for HD Supply Facilities Maintenance, a $3 billion company with approximately 6,000 employees across North America. Prior to HD Supply, she was senior human resource manager for Home Depot Canada. She will be based at EmployBridge’s corporate headquarters in Atlanta.

Online staffing platform Bluecrew appointed Stephen Avalone as CEO effective immediately. Prior to Bluecrew, Avalone spend nine years at Amazon, where he led incubation teams that paved the way for Amazon Assistant and Amazon’s Onsite Publisher and Influencer programs, according to Bluecrew. Before Amazon, he served in the US arm of global e-commerce firm Rakuten. Bluecrew employs workers on a W-2 basis. It is part of IAC/InterActiveCorp.

TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI) announced that James Defebaugh, executive VP, chief legal officer and secretary, will retire effective July 1. Succeeding Defebaugh will be Garrett Ferencz, who has served as TrueBlue’s senior VP and general counsel since January 2020. Ferencz joined the company in 2007.

Alliance Industrial Solutions, an industrial staffing firm based in Independence, Ohio, appointed David Bishop as president. Bishop previously was northeast president for EmployBridge. Bishop spent 14 years at EmployBridge and moved up the ranks to handling the $167 million northeast region. Bishop has also served as a regional VP for Randstad. Alliance Industrial Solutions is part of TalentLaunch, a network of independently operated staffing firms under common ownership.
