Report lists largest US industrial staffing firms

EmployBridge Holding Company ranked as the largest US industrial staffing firm in terms of industrial temporary staffing revenue, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ 2017 list of largest US industrial staffing firms. TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI) and Express Employment Professionals rank second and third, respectively.

The list is based on last year’s industrial temporary staffing revenue in the US.

The list includes 35 staffing firms with more than $100 million in US industrial temporary staffing revenue in 2016. Combined, these firms generated $22.5 billion in such revenue, accounting for 69% of the market, according to Staffing Industry Analysts estimates.

The five largest industrial staffing firms in the US by estimated 2016 US industrial temporary staffing revenue are:

  1. EmployBridge Holding Company: $2.59 billion, 8% market share
  2. TrueBlue: $2.51 billion, 8% market share
  3. Express Employment Professionals: $2.30 billion, 7% market share
  4. Randstad: $1.75 billion, 5% market share
  5. Aerotek (Allegis Group): $1.72 billion, 5% market share

The market share held by the five largest industrial staffing firms has increased substantially from 2008 to 2015, and stayed the same in 2016. The report noted that this trend of consolidation has been driven in part by some large acquisitions: In 2013, TrueBlue acquired MDT Personnel and EmployBridge acquired Employment Plus; in 2014, TrueBlue acquired The Seaton Companies.
