Lawmakers in Washington on Jan. 24 sent a letter to the White House calling for an investigation into price increases by nurse staffing firms. It was signed by 195 members of Congress and sent to Jeffrey Zients, the White House Covid-19 response team coordinator.It's part of a trend over concerns about prices that has gotten the attention of the industry.

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf on Jan. 26 signed House Bill 253, which aims to help frontline workers fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. House Bill 253 as amended sets aside $225 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to support the following healthcare areas:$100 million to be distributed to all acute care, critical access, and children's hospitals licensed by the Department of Health on a per-bed basis.

Private equity firm Lee Equity Partners LLC announced an investment in Therapy Partner Solutions, a Jacksonville, Florida-based firm that operates as the parent organization for five individual companies in the therapy space. One of the companies is InSearch Medical, a Rome, Georgia-based healthcare staffing firm focused on therapy staffing across the US.Terms of the transaction were not announced.Co-founder and CEO Steve Chenoweth will continue to lead Therapy Partner Solutions.

P2P Staffing Corp. announced in January it received a majority investment from A&M Capital Partners. P2P's staffing brands are MPLT Healthcare, a provider of locum tenens and physician and advanced practice direct-hire staffing, and TekPartners, a provider of IT staffing.Co-founders of P2P, along with its senior leadership team, will invest alongside A&M Capital Partners.
