Uber court victory a win for human cloud platforms (Lexology)

March 07, 2017

A California court granted human cloud, ride-sharing firm Uber a significant victory last week in its ongoing misclassification battle over whether its drivers are properly classified as independent contractors. The ruling received scant attention due to the procedural quirks surrounding the decision but its significance cannot be overstated, Karl Lindegren and Richard Meneghello of law firm Fisher Phillips wrote in Lexology. The case involved Uber driver Yosef Eisenberg, who brought a legal action against Uber in an effort to get his job back and to collect damages after he was deactivated from the ride-sharing service following alleged inappropriate contact with customers.
