Alaska posts highest jobless rate in February

Alaska posted the highest unemployment rate among all states in February at 6.6%, according to data released today by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mississippi and West Virginia closely followed at 6.5% each.

The District of Columbia also had a rate of 6.5%.

New Hampshire and South Dakota had the lowest jobless rates in February, 2.7% each, followed by North Dakota at 2.9%.

The national jobless rate was unchanged from January at 4.9% and was 0.6 percentage point lower than in February 2015.
