Jobless claims down 5.4% over week

The number of U.S. initial claims for unemployment benefits fell 5.4% to 601,000 in the week ended May 2 from the previous week's revised number of 635,000. The four-week moving average of claims fell 2.3% to 623,500 from the previous week's revised average of 638,250.
