Service sector's decline eases further

Economic activity in the U.S. service sector contracted more slowly in June than in May, the Institute for Supply Management reported today. Its nonmanufacturing index rose to a reading of 47.0 in June from 44.0 in May. However, only readings above 50 indicate expansion.

Weekly jobless claims fall 2.5%
