Temp Bill Rate Index Shows Subtle Upward Trend

IQNavigator’s master IQNdex, which tracks the net direction of temporary labor bill rates, rose in June. IQNavigator reports the index has been stable over the past year with its value varying by less than a point between June 2011 and May 2012. However, the company cited a subtle upward trend in the temp bill rate index.

The master IQNdex reading was 105.2 in June. That compares with May’s reading of 104.7 and the June 2011 reading of 103.9.

Looking at IQNdex readings by segment, the “technical-IT” sector posted slow but steady temp labor bill rate increase since January 2011. The light industrial sector began increasing in the second quarter of 2012 after a decline in the second half of last year and a flat first quarter of 2012.

Bill rates in the “professional-managerial” sector remained flat in 2012, according to the IQNdex. However, the “office-clerical” job sector posted modest downward movement in the second quarter of this year, according to the IQNdex.

The baseline for the master IQNdex is January 2008. The level for that month is 100, and levels for later months are compared to that baseline.
