Compunnel Software Group Inc., a business technology services and staffing provider, acquired Boston-based healthcare staffing company Alternative Solutions Inc.

This acquisition expands Compunnel’s geographic footprint and skill coverage. The group has an existing independent healthcare staffing unit, Compunnel Healthcare, with which Alternative Solutions will merge its operations.

Alternative Solutions President Keith Alter will be the COO of Compunnel Healthcare going forward, while all other Alternative Solutions’ executives will remain in their current roles.

The transaction was announced on March 5; terms were not disclosed.

Alternative Solutions since 1982 has operated in healthcare staffing as a niche staffing supplier in the greater Boston area and New England regions. It places ambulatory nursing, allied health and healthcare medical administrative personnel in temporary, temp-to-perm and permanent roles.

Compunnel is included on Staffing Industry Analysts’ list of largest IT staffing firms in the US. It has offices in 29 states with offshore development centers in Canada, UK, Denmark and India. Its services include enterprise digital transformation and cloud computing solutions, staffing services and learning and development solutions (as InfoPro Learning).
