Taiwan – Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate up slightly in February

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Taiwan rose by 0.03% in February 2021 to a rate of 3.73% when compared to the same period in the previous year, according to the latest manpower survey results from Directorate General Budget, Accounting and Statistics.

When compared to the previous month, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell by 0.02% in February 2021.

The total number of unemployed persons was 443,000 in February, it increased by 5,000(+1.09%) from the previous month but remained unchanged from that of the previous year.

On a monthly basis, total employment decreased by 13,000 (-0.11%) in February to 11.51 million. it decreased by 9,000 (-0.08%) when compared with that of the previous year.

Compared with the same period of the previous year, employment in agriculture and the good-producing sector decreased by 9,000 (-1.61%) and 12,000(-0.29%), respectively; by contrast, the services-providing sector increased by 12,000(+0.17%) in February.

Meanwhile, Taiwan’s labour force participation rate declined by 0.05% from that of the previous year to a total rate of 59.11%.
