Singapore – SMEs partner with union to fight workplace gender bias (The Straits Times)

04 March 2022

Small and medium-sized enterprises in Singapore are partnering with the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) to stamp out gender bias and harassment in the workplace, reports The Straits Times. A series of memorandums of understanding to be inked this week will give 22 SMEs access to the National Trades Union Congress’ consultants and resources when they set up polices such as proper grievance handling procedures and disciplinary actions. The NTUC will also provide training materials, webinars, and a sample human resource (HR) policy manual that SMEs can use to improve gender equality and anti-harassment policies and practices in their firms. The initiative is led by the union's women and family wing, which aims to ramp up participation to another 60 SMEs by the end of the year, NTUC added.
