Online recruitment in the Philippines increased by 12% in July 2021 when compared to July 2020, according to data from the Monster Employment Index (MEI).

The MEI increased to 125 in July 2021 from 112 in July 2020.

Online recruitment activity recorded a decrease of 1% month on month.

Online hiring demand in July 2021 exceeded July 2020 level in 10 of the 12 industries monitored by the Index.

Logistics, Courier/Freight/Transportation (+66%), IT, Telecom/ISP (Internet service provider) (+32%) and Advertising, MR, PR, Media & Entertainment (+30%) were the industries to  record the steepest growth among all monitored industries in July 2021 from the year-ago level.

Both Hospitality (-23%) and Consumer Goods/ FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) (-2%) were badly impacted in hiring activity.

Annual online demand for professionals saw growth in 8 of 10 functional areas as monitored by the Index.

Marketing & Communications (+42%), Software, Hardware, Telecom (+34%) and Finance & Accounts (+31%) saw robust growth among all monitored functional areas in July 2021 from the year-ago level.

Year-on-year, Hospitality & Travel (-1%) and Customer Service (-1%) recorded a slight dip.
