Japan – Persol invests in medical care tech firm 3Sunny

04 March 2021

Japanese staffing firm Persol announced it has invested in 3Sunny, a Japanese firm involved in the medical care field.

The investment was made through the Persol Innovation Fund.

3Sunny was founded in 2016. The company is primarily involved in the provision of web services for SaaS-type (Software as a Service) medical care institutions.

“With the mission of "continuing to support every scene of medical care with technology and mechanism," 3Sunny faces the issues of medical care in Japan head-on, solves the problems in the field while utilising technology, and aims to realise a society where people can receive medical care with peace of mind,” the company stated.

The company’s business support SaaS "Care Book" has been introduced to medical institutions such as university hospitals and large-scale medical groups, mainly in Tokyo, and in more than 230 medical institutions nationwide, including long-term care facilities.

“Due to the spread of the new coronavirus and the large increase in hospitalisations and discharges due to the aging society, the work of people working at medical institutions is becoming tight, and there is a need to improve work efficiency and optimise information collaboration using technology,” 3Sunny stated. “In order to resolve this situation as soon as possible and meet the further needs of users, we will invest in product development and carry out recruitment activities.”

Persol Innovation specialises in the creation of new businesses, open innovation promotion, management and incidental operations.

Last month, Persol reported revenue for the nine months ended 31 December 2020 of JPY 703.83 billion (USD 6.70 billion), a decrease of 2.4% when compared to the previous period.

According to SIA’s report Largest Staffing Firms in Japan report, Persol was the 2nd largest staffing firm in Japan based on revenue.
