Japan – Career Co first-quarter revenue down 4.6% as losses deepen amid pandemic

Career Co., Ltd, (6198:JP), a Japanese HR services firm, reported revenue yesterday for the first quarter ending 31 December 2020 of JPY 3.00 billion (USD 28.55 million), down 4.6% when compared to the same period last year.

Career Co is mainly engaged in the provision of senior human resources for an ageing society. The senior work business provides temporary staffing, recruitment of senior human resources for building maintenance, bed-making, office work, logistics, qualified personnel and other fields.

The group said the pandemic had hit its business.

Looking ahead the company forecasted revenue of JPY 13.00 billion (USD 123.50 million) for the year ended September 2021.

According to SIA’s Largest Staffing Firms in Japan report, Career Co was the 37th largest staffing firm in Japan based on revenue.

Shares in Career Co closed yesterday at JPY 372.00 (USD 3.53), up 2.19% on the day. The company has a market cap of JPY 2.88 billion (USD 27.36 million).
