India – Hiring in aviation sector to soar 30% (The Hindu Business Line)

01 June 2022

With travel picking up, India’s aviation sector is likely to see a 30% increase in hiring over the next two quarters, reports The Hindu Business Line, citing research from TeamLease Services. Joy Thomas, Vice-President and Business Head (Retail, Ecommerce, Logistics & transportation), TeamLease Services, said despite conversations around automation, the aviation industry will continue to be predominantly people-focussed. “Overall, as per industry sentiments, we are expecting hiring to pick up by 30 per cent in the next two quarters,” Thomas said. Meanwhile Monster’s Employment Index data from April 2022, showed the aviation industry saw an increase in hiring momentum with a double-digit growth in jobs. In contrast, the sector had witnessed a huge drop in the last couple of years due the pandemic-related travel restrictions.

Kapil Joshi, V-P, Quess Corp, said the employment of commercial pilots is projected to grow for the next few years. He said that as new airlines begin their operations and established ones add new aircraft to their fleet, the industry will witness a rise in demand for operations staff, especially in the engineering space.
