China – Employment stable as policy support continues (China.org.cn)

18 November 2021

China has created 11.33 million new jobs in its urban areas during the first 10 months of this year, achieving the government’s target for the whole year in advance, reports China.org.cn. From January to October, the country's surveyed urban unemployment rate averaged 5.1%, said Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). China's surveyed urban unemployment rate stood at 4.9% in October, 0.4% lower than the same period last year. The surveyed urban unemployment rate is calculated based on the number of unemployed people who have participated in the employment survey in urban areas, including migrant workers in cities. "The policy of stabilising employment continued, and the employment situation was generally stable," Fu added.
