Average hourly wage for Japan temporary staff up in three metro areas

The average hourly wage for temporary staff across three major metropolitan areas in Japan stood at JPY 1,630 (USD 11.03), an increase of JPY 17 (0.12), or 1.1%, from the same month last year, according to data from the Jobs Research Centre (JBRC), a research institute of Recruit Co., Ltd.

When compared to the previous month, the average hourly wage fell by JPY 24 (USD 0.16) (-1.5%).

The average hourly wage in Kanto was JPY 1,736 (USD 11.75), an increase of JPY 26 (USD 0.18) from the same month last year (1.5%), and a decrease of JPY 28 (USD 0.19) from the previous month (-1.6%). By occupation, when compared to the same month last year, there was an increase in four occupational fields, including manufacturing, logistics, and cleaning, up JPY 50 (USD 0.34), or 3.6%.

Tokai's average hourly wage was JPY 1,450 (USD 9.82), an increase of JPY 17 (USD 0.12) from the same month last year (1.2%) and a decrease of JPY 18 (USD 0.12) from the previous month (-1.2%). Looking at occupation, the year-on-year increase was positive in four fields, including office work which was up by JPY 29 (USD 0.20), an increase of 2.1%.

The average hourly wage in Kansai was JPY 1,458 (USD 9.87), an increase of JPY 26 (USD 0.18) from the same month last year (up 1.8%). All monitored occupational fields saw a year-on-year increase including notably IT/Technology, up JPY 63 (USD 0.43), or 3.3%.
