Australia – Recruitment firm GO2 People settles alleged unfair preference claim

10 September 2021

GO2 People Ltd. (GO2:ASX), a Perth, Australia-based recruitment firm reported it settled proceedings related to an alleged unfair preference claim.

The proceedings alleged GO2 People received payments from VCS Civil and Mining Pty. Ltd. prior to the mining company being placed into administration, according to a regulatory filing. The claims in the proceedings were in preference to other unsecured creditors.

Amount of settlement is confidential under a deed of settlement and release, according to GO2 People. However, it’s not expected to materially impact fiscal year 2022 financial results.

Proceedings took place in the Federal Court of Australia.

The claims were first announced last February. At the time, GO2 People noted in a regulatory filing the claim amount, specified as AUD 510,375.81, is the total sum of a series of payments received by GO2 People between August 2017 and December 2017. It also noted a total of 18 defendants had been served in the same proceedings.

Last month, GO2 People announced that CEO Billy Ferreira was stepping down and that Non-Executive Director Paul Goldfinch was resigning as well. The company appointed as its new CEO Shawn Murphy, who had been CEO of Skill Hire since August 2020.
