With all of the football games on display over the holidays, we were provided some clear examples of how leadership, strategy and execution combine to determine who achieves their goal and who falls short. Similarly, IT staffing is a collaborative endeavor, and in order to be successful all members of the team need to be on the same page — working from a common playbook, if you will. IT hiring in US to slow in first half of 2017, Robert Half survey finds

Chief information officers in the US plan to add fewer IT staff in the first half of 2017 than they planned to add in the second half of 2016, according to the Robert Half Technology IT Hiring Forecast and Local Trend Report. Canadian CIOs also plan to hire fewer workers.


Private equity firm acquires Sonoma Consulting

Chicago-based private equity firm Highlands Ventures acquired Sonoma Consulting Inc., an IT consulting and executive search firm also headquartered in Chicago.


Two CDI shareholders call for evaluating strategic alternatives

Two shareholders in CDI Corp. (NYSE: CDI) called on the engineering and IT staffing provider to evaluate strategic alternatives, including a possible sale, and announced they intend to nominate independent directors for election at CDI’s 2017 annual meeting of shareholders. 


IT workers’ wages to edge up 2.8%

Wage increases for IT jobs in recent years have been modest, and the coming year looks to be no different, according to the 2017 IT Salary Report released by Computer Economics. IT workers at the median will receive a pay raise in the neighborhood of 2.8%.


Temp Holdings invests in US-based coding boot camp

Temp Holdings Co. Ltd. is investing in Hack Reactor LLC, a coding boot camp based in San Francisco. The amount of the investment was not announced.


TEKsystems’ forecast finds 43% expect to increase contingent IT staff

The majority of IT leaders expect both their full-time and contingent workforce teams to grow or remain the same, according to TEKsystems’ annual IT Forecast research. However, just one-third expect to increase salaries in 2017.


Disney IT workers file lawsuit (Bloomberg BNA)

A new lawsuit claims Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US Inc. discriminated against a class of IT employees by terminating them and outsourcing their work to contractors that employ workers with temporary visas.
