UK – Staffline: PwC to resign as auditor

12 August 2019

Staffline Group (STAF: LSE), the UK-based staffing and employability organisation, announced that it has received a letter of resignation from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) resigning as the group's auditor with effect from 1 August 2019.

In the letter of resignation, PwC confirmed that the reason that they are ceasing to hold office is that the company will soon be undertaking a competitive tender process for the position of statutory auditor and there was mutual agreement with the audit committee not to participate in this process following the completion of the company's audit for the year ended 31 December 2018.

Staffline will commence a competitive tender process for the role of the group's auditor shortly.

Earlier this year, Staffline launched an investigation in conjunction with PwC relating to concerns over invoicing and payroll practices within its Recruitment division.

“Where issues have been identified, they have been rectified with the benefit of expert independent advice,” the company stated in its full year 2018 results. The company had reported a statutory loss in FY 2018 reflecting a ‘provision for penalties and remediation costs after failing to pay the national minimum wage as well as restructuring charges for the group’s training division, PeoplePlus.’

Staffline will announce results for the six months ended 30 June 2019 on Tuesday, 17 September 2019.
