UK – REC elects new council members

14 June 2018

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation, professional body for the recruitment industry, announced its council election results at the Annual General Meeting yesterday.

Using online voting, 5% of recruitment businesses in REC membership voted for their preferred candidates to fill the corporate positions on the board. There was no election required for individual director positions, due to insufficient candidates.

The four corporate members elected were Jessica Williams (Founder of Sidekicks), Jacqueline Hilton (managing director, Fidelis Partners), Tim Jacob (Group Commercial Director, The Rethink Group) and Gary Wilson (Chairman, Essential Recruitment).

The person individual members elected was Louise Hewett (managing director, Hewett Recruitment).

“We want our industry to lead on the issues that drive the jobs market, and the REC council will play a vital role in helping us to drive the profile and reputation of our industry,” REC acting chief executive David Vallance said. “We know that jobs transform lives, and with the strategic direction from today’s successful candidates all of whom will bring a wealth of experience and passion to their new roles - will help us do more for our members”.

The REC council consists of up to 17 directors who are representatives of corporate members and up to seven directors who are representatives of individual members of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals, appointed either by the membership at the Annual General Meeting of the REC or by the council itself during the course of the year as vacancies arise. One quarter of the directors will stand down each year at the AGM, and any member can be nominated for election, in accordance with the articles.
