Spain — Temporary employment in Galicia up by 27.3%

14 August 2009

Galicia, the extreme North-West region of Spain, has benefitted from a national government development fund and the Summer season. The latest joint labour market report by the Association of Large Temporary Agencies (Agett) and International Finance Analysts (AFI) reveals that temporary employment in the region was up by 27.3% in June 2009 compared to the same period last year.

Agett estimates that the extreme growth will not continue once the Summer tourist season is over and the state fund for Galician development (Fondo Estatal de Inversion Local) runs out in December 2009.

However, Agett President Francisco Aranda, told El Pais that "Galicia has a good stock of excellent companies and is well prepared for the future labour market."
