Ireland – Professional job vacancies fall in April

10 May 2017

The number of professional job vacancies in Ireland fell by 6% in April when compared to the same time last year, according to the latest Morgan McKinley Ireland Employment Monitor.

On a month-to-month basis, the number of professional job vacancies increased by 7% in April. Meanwhile, the number of professionals seeking new roles in April fell by 2% compared to last year and by 15% compared to last month.

The monitor showed that the financial services and professional services sectors were recruiting the most as companies in these sectors look to expand in the face of Brexit.

“The continuing improvement in economic circumstances is feeding into a buoyant professional services recruitment market,” Morgan McKinley Ireland Director of Inward Investment Trayc Keevans said. “We are seeing a strong pipeline of interest from abroad as potential inward investment projects seek information and guidance on skills availability in Ireland.”

"This is a mixture of standard FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) interest and Brexit related concern on the part of international companies. We are also seeing strong organic growth in the Irish professional jobs market where companies have a positive outlook and are resourcing their requirements accordingly," Keevans said.
