Ireland – More than half of workers would move jobs for more money

02 November 2016

More than half of Irish workers would be tempted to change jobs for a pay rise, according to data from recruitment site IrishJobs.ie.

The data showed that 54% of employees would consider a move for extra money.  Meanwhile 21% said they would be persuaded to apply for a new role if it offered more challenging work, while 19% of respondents said they would leave their current job in exchange for a job with more security.

“Our research revealed that over the course of the last twelve months salary has been top of mind for people in work,” Orla Moran General Manager of IrishJobs.ie, said. "While jobseekers identified the importance of being happy at work with a good work/life balance, organisations looking to attract and retain talent may have to work hard on two fronts. Retain existing employees through salary increases while ensuring a good work life balance to attract new employees."
