Germany – Temporary employment wages up in Q2, overall wages climb

The temporary employment sector in Germany saw an increase in earnings in the second quarter when compared to the same quarter last year, according to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).

Data from Destatis covers temporary employment as a service to other economic services through the "placement and leasing of labor". Destatis latest figures reported an increase of 2.8% (excluding special payments) in wages. Special payments include payments such as one-time payments, annual special payments or collectively agreed additional payments.

Divided into West Germany and East Germany, temporary employment wage rates in West Germany rose by 2.8% and in East Germany by 3.2%.

Destatis also noted that overall wage rates in Germany rose by an average of 2.0% (with special payments) and 2.2% (excluding special payments) compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.0% over the same period.
