Germany – StepStone acquires e-learning platform Studydrive

14 January 2019

Berlin-based recruitment group StepStone announced that it has acquired German-based e-learning platform Studydrive.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Studydrive, founded in 2013 by Philipp Mackeprang and Sven Gasper, allows more than 700,000 students from 100 universities from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland to meet their fellow students, share their learning materials and lecture notes. It also helps students find jobs and internships once they’re finished with their studies. The company has previously raised two rounds for a total of €3.5 million.

Both Mackeprang and Gasper will remain on board as CEOs after the acquisition.

Gasper stated that as part of StepStone, the company’s next step is to expand worldwide.

"In recent years, Studydrive has become a central platform that accompanies students throughout their studies," Managing Director Sebastian Dettmers said. "As part of the StepStone family, Studydrive will continue on its path. Together, we offer students all the opportunities to plan and implement their academic success, and then make the important step to the right job. "Employers such as Continental, Henkel or EY are already using the platform successfully to attract students and graduates.

StepStone told the Handelsblatt that it would expand Studydrive to the UK and France.
