France – Temporary employment slips in January, according to Prism’Emploi

The number of temporary workers in France fell by 6.6% year-over-year in January, according to the Barometer report by Prism’Emploi, the French association of employment agencies.

January’s decrease follows a continuing fall from December 2018 of 5.9%.

Among the sectors, temporary employment in the construction sector saw no growth. Meanwhile, temporary employment declined in services (-2.3%) and transport (-3.8%), industrial (-7.8%) and transport (-13.5%).

Among occupational categories, the number of temporary workers fell for managers and intermediate professionals (-0.7%), skilled workers (-7.1%), employees (-7.4%) and unskilled workers (-7.6%) .

Among the regions, only the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region saw its temporary staff increase (1.6%) in January.
