Denmark – Uber ends operations following new taxi law (The Guardian)

04 April 2017

The introduction of new taxi laws in Denmark means that Uber, the ride-sharing service, is now set to shut down its operations in the country next month, reports the Guardian. The taxi law sets out new requirements for drivers such as mandatory fare meters and seat occupancy sensors. In a statement, Uber said, "For us to operate in Denmark again the proposed regulations need to change. We will continue to work with the government in the hope that they will update their proposed regulations and enable Danes to enjoy the benefits of modern technologies like Uber".
