Chartwell Staffing Solutions, a staffing provider based in Lancaster, Pa., assumed control of a majority of the teams and locations of Corporate Resource Services, which recently ceased operations. The move in mid-March brings Chartwell’s locations to 39.

Chartwell took over 30 former Corporate Resource Services locations, and had operated nine offices prior to the move.

Corporate Resource Services branch offices in Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Reno and Salt Lake City had continued operating while looking for another company to take them over, according to Chartwell National Marketing Director Catherine Lockey. Chartwell assumed the branches' leases and put up about $1 million to acquire the company's leftover assets, including its computers and other contents of its branch offices. The staff will also remain in their existing roles.

“This was not an acquisition,” Lockey said. “Chartwell simply paid the upfront cost and stepped into their shoes.”

Chartwell, a 3-year-old company, is owned by Tracy Kidan.

Corporate Resource Services at one time ranked as the 22^nd-largest US staffing firm before ceasing operations.
