Canada's Fourth-Quarter GDP Rises

Canada's real gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter, Statistics Canada announced today.
Led by exports, the fourth-quarter growth follows a 0.4 percent gain in the third quarter, revised upward from a previously announced 0.3 percent. Real GDP rose 0.5 percent in December over November. Demand for exports rose by 4.0 percent and consumer spending rose 1.2 percent.
For 2010 overall, real GDP grew 3.1 percent; it fell 2.5 percent in 2009.
