Dexian names CEO, makes other C-suite changes

Dexian, a McLean, Virginia-based IT staffing provider, appointed Maruf Ahmed as its new chief executive officer. Ahmed takes over from Mahfuz Ahmed, who will transition to the role of chairman. Dexian also announced other C-suite transitions.

“Maruf's appointment as CEO marks a significant milestone for Dexian,” said Mahfuz Ahmed. “His leadership skills, industry expertise and unwavering commitment to our people align perfectly with our corporate vision and values.”

Maruf Ahmed, the brother of Mahfuz Ahmed, previously served as the company’s president and chief operating officer. He played a role in growing Dexian’s revenue to more than $1.3 billion and spearheaded the company’s past seven acquisitions as well as its international expansion in 12 countries. Before Dexian, Maruf Ahmed held an IT consultant role at IBM and was an engineer and developer at ExxonMobil.

Maruf Ahmed also appeared on SIA’s 2023 Staffing 100 list of most influential people in the staffing industry.

“As I step into the role of CEO, my vision is to cultivate a people-centric environment,” Maruf Ahmed said. “In creating a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and compassion, we can unleash our full potential and produce exceptional results for our clients.”

Dexian also promoted Lydia Wilson to chief people officer, Geoff Gray to chief customer relationship officer, Tara Winn to chief of staff and Kip Havel to chief marketing officer.

Wilson joined Dexian in 2019 as executive VP of strategy and most recently led the company’s leadership development organization. As chief people officer, Wilson will lead Dexian’s human resources organization and the leadership and development team. A 35-year industry veteran, Wilson has appeared three times on Staffing Industry Analysts’ Global Power 100 women in staffing list.

Gray, one of the founding members of Signature Consultants, joined the executive leadership team during the acquisition in 2021. Gray will introduce and position the company’s new platform of services to the global client base in his new role. He has more than 30 years of experience in IT staffing.

Winn joined Dexian in 2009 and has held multiple leadership roles within the organization. Winn played an instrumental role in the expansion of the Dexian platform. As chief of staff, Winn will serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and will continue to lead Dexian’s field operations. Additionally, Winn was featured on SIA’s Global Power 150 women in staffing list in 2022 for the second time last year.

Kip Havel joined Dexian in 2020 after serving in senior roles with Aflac, Randstad and Cross Country Healthcare. In his most recent role as VP and head of marketing, Havel was the driving force behind the development and launch of the Dexian brand, according to the company.

Dexian, formerly known as Disys, was founded by Mahfuz Ahmed in 1994. Dexian was launched this year from the combination of Disys, Signature Consultants and other strategic acquisitions.

Dexian ranks as the eighth-largest US IT staffing firm.
