Dexian names new CEO following brand transition

July 06, 2023

Dexian, a McLean, Virginia-based IT staffing provider, appointed Maruf Ahmed as its new chief executive officer. Ahmed takes over from Mahfuz Ahmed, who will transition to the role of chairman.

“Maruf's appointment as CEO marks a significant milestone for Dexian,” said Mahfuz Ahmed. “His leadership skills, industry expertise and unwavering commitment to our people align perfectly with our corporate vision and values.”

Maruf Ahmed, the brother of Mahfuz Ahmed, previously served as the company’s president and chief operating officer. He played a role in growing Dexian’s revenue to more than $1.3 billion and spearheaded the company’s past seven acquisitions as well as its international expansion in 12 countries. Before Dexian, Maruf Ahmed held an IT consultant role at IBM and was an engineer and developer at ExxonMobil.

Maruf Ahmed also appeared on SIA’s 2023 Staffing 100 list of most influential people in the staffing industry.

“As I step into the role of CEO, my vision is to cultivate a people-centric environment,” Maruf Ahmed said. “In creating a culture of collaboration, inclusivity and compassion, we can unleash our full potential and produce exceptional results for our clients.”

Dexian, formerly known as Disys, was founded by Mahfuz Ahmed in 1994. Dexian was launched this year from the combination of Disys, Signature Consultants and other strategic acquisitions.

Dexian ranks as the eighth-largest US IT staffing firm.
