CHG Healthcare promotes Byington to new role, names new locum tenens exec

CHG Healthcare Services, the second-largest US healthcare staffing firm, named Melissa Byington to the new role of group president of CompHealth and Weatherby Healthcare. Lisa Grabl stepped up to replace her as president of the CompHealth locum tenens division.

The appointments took effect March 1.

Byington joined CompHealth as a recruiter in 1997 and has served in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as president of the locum tenens division since 2011. CompHealth locum tenens is the largest locum tenens staffing provider in the US and employs nearly 700 people. Byington also serves as president of the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations and is included on Staffing Industry Analysts Global Power 100 – Women in Staffing list.

“Melissa has been incredibly successful in her role as president of CompHealth locum tenens and equally passionate about improving our culture and developing our people,” said COO Mark Law. “We’re excited for her to bring her leadership skills and broad industry perspective to her new role as group president.”

Grabl joined CompHealth in 2001 as a sales consultant and has held a variety of management roles. She most recently served as senior VP of sales for CompHealth locum tenens.

“Lisa is a tireless advocate for our people and is constantly finding new ways to grow our business,” said Byington. “She's done an amazing job as senior vice president and will be a fantastic leader as the new president of CompHealth locum tenens.”

CHG operates three locum tenens companies: Global Medical Staffing and CompHealth in Salt Lake City and Weatherby Healthcare in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. CHG also owns two nurse staffing companies, RNnetwork in Boca Raton, Fla., and Foundation Medical Staffing in Edmond, Okla.

CHG employs more than 2,500 people in eight offices in Utah, Florida, North Carolina, Connecticut, Michigan and Oklahoma.
