Healthcare credentialing taking longer than five to six weeks

More than two-thirds of credentialing processes for clinicians, 67%, take longer than five to six weeks, according to a survey released by SkillSurvey Inc.

Additional survey findings include:

  • 62% of respondents said it takes from one to three weeks for peer references to respond to traditional credentialing requests.
  • 50% of respondents report that it takes one to two weeks to verify a hospital affiliation.
  • Nine in 10 organizations believe it is critical to continue improving the applicant onboarding experience within the credentialing process.

The survey included almost 500 healthcare industry leaders.
