Agilus, an engineering staffing provider, acquires one of Canada’s largest staffing firms

Agilus, which ranks as the sixth-largest staffing firm in Canada, acquired Bowen Group, the 19th-largest staffing firm in Canada.

Agilus is headquartered in Edmonton, Alberta, and employs more than 170 internal staff at 14 offices across Canada. It provides staffing in the engineering and technical, IT, office and professional, and light industrial fields.

Bowen is based in Calgary, Alberta, with locations across Canada and has been in operation for 47 years. The deal includes Bowen Group’s stake in Stream Source, an indigenous workforce management firm.

“Bowen’s reputation as a trusted advisor in Canada is evidenced by the strength of their client relationships, many of which have spanned decades,” Agilus CEO Craig Brown said.

The acquisition aims to increase Agilus’ footprint in Alberta, offer clients a more robust contingent workforce management solution and further its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Plans also call for Bowen’s leadership to join Agilus.

Bowen CEO Shannon Bowen-Smed said the deal will expand opportunities for both clients and employees.

The deal closed Sept. 30. Both firms are privately owned and terms of the transaction were not announced.
