The vaccine mandate for employees at large US companies announced last week by President Joe Biden is already running into headwinds from businesses, conservative governors and even unions, Politico reported. Businesses, for one, have questions about the mandate rules and how they will be applied under the plan where employees would have to be vaccinated or receive weekly tests. With tests, “it’s millions of dollars a year to any size company,” Ian Schaefer, chair of Loeb and Loeb’s employment and labor practice in New York, told Politico. “I’ve seen companies do it before Biden issued his order and it’s incredibly burdensome and time consuming and may not even guarantee health and safety in the way that mandating vaccines would.”
