Online staffing provider Upwork announced Brian Kinion joined the company as chief financial officer, effective Oct. 30. He will oversee the finance team, including analytics, planning and accounting.

He replaces Brian Levey as CFO; Levey previously served as both general counsel and CFO at Upwork and will remain as general counsel. 

Kinion most recently was CFO at marketing software provider Marketo, responsible for global financial planning and reporting, investor relations and driving growth processes. He is also a board member of Marin Software Inc., where he serves as the audit committee chair.

Prior to Marketo, Kinion held finance leadership roles at SuccessFactors (acquired by SAP), CoTherix Inc. (acquired by Actelion Pharmaceuticals), and DigitalThink, among others. Kinion began his career as an auditor at KPMG.
