Two-thirds of employers to keep wages flat in Q3, Express survey finds

July 26, 2017

Most employers expect to keep wage growth in check throughout the next three months, according to a survey released today by Express Employment Professionals.

The survey found 67% of businesses expect wages at their companies to stay the same, the same percentage as in the last quarterly survey. On the bright side, 31% of respondents said they would increase wages, and only 2% expect wages to decrease.

“This survey indicates that as many as one-in-three employees might look for a pay bump in the coming quarter,” said Express CEO Bob Funk. “So, there’s certainly good news for some, but most workers will probably see unchanged wages. Going forward, as the labor market continues to tighten, we would expect to see higher rates of wage increases over the coming quarters.”

The survey of 533 businesses covers hiring trends for the third quarter of 2017. The respondents are current and former clients of Express Employment Professionals.
