Three-quarters of HR professionals report increase in job openings over past year

October 23, 2023

Despite economic headwinds, the state of the job market in the US has shown remarkable resilience, according to a report by Top Echelon. The recruiting software provider found that 73% of human resource professionals reported increased job openings over the past year, while 63% expect the trend to continue over the next 12 months.

In addition, 85% of HR executives noted an increase in remote job opportunities. According to the report, this shift is expected to persist, providing a broader talent pool as businesses adapt to changing workplace preferences.

The report also found a high demand for skills in the job market, particularly digital proficiency and soft skills such as communication and adaptability. However, HR professionals identified recruiting and retaining top talent as a significant challenge.

“Despite uncertainties in recent years, the job market remains resilient, buoyed by optimism among HR professionals and hiring managers," according to the report. “The current market is characterized by a lack of qualified talent and a continued strong desire to hire.”

The report included responses from 20,000 HR professionals from diverse industries across the US.
