September 08, 2022

Staffing giant Randstad nv announced a new leadership team today. Chris Heutink will take on the role of chief operating officer at Randstad as part of the changes, and Rebecca Henderson, CEO of global business, will retire effective April 1.

Heutink will focus on driving business performance in his new role. Heutink appeared on the 2021 European Staffing 100 list. He started with the company 30 years ago.

Randstad’s announcement includes several more high-level changes at the Netherlands-based firm:

  • Michael Smith will become chief executive of Randstad Enterprise Solutions and focus on building client relationships.
  • Karen Fichuk will lead Randstad Technologies and be dedicated to delivering technology expertise and talent to clients worldwide. Fichuk joined the company in 2019 and appeared on the 2022 North American Staffing 100 list
  • Marc-Etienne Julien will be chief talent officer. Julien, CEO of Randstad Canada and managing director of global talent, appeared on the Staffing 100 list
  • Jesus Echevarria will be chief client delivery officer.

Randstad is also creating four regional market groups:

  • Dominique Hermans will be chief executive Northern Europe.
  • Jorge Vazques will be chief executive Southern Europe and Latin America.
  • Fichuk will continue in her role as chief executive North America.
  • Heutink will continue to lead Asia Pacific.

The appointments will take effect Jan. 1.

“When I began as CEO of Randstad this year, it was clear that the world of work is rapidly changing and we needed to address three key challenges,” Randstad CEO Sander van ‘t Noordende said. “First, scarcity has put talent firmly in the lead. Second, securing the right talent is the number one priority of our clients. And third, our industry is digitizing at speed.”

Van ‘t Noordende continued, “With this new executive leadership team, we are taking a first critical step in addressing these challenges at scale, ensuring Randstad remains a strategic partner for its clients and becomes a partner of choice for global talent.”

Randstad also announced that several executives will remain in their current roles:

  • Henry Schirmer, CFO
  • Myriam Beatove Moreale, chief human resources officer
  • Martin de Weerdt, chief information officer
  • Joanna Irwin, chief marketing officer

Randstad noted that Henderson, after retiring from the company, will focus on supporting and creating strong female entrepreneurs. Henderson appeared on the 2021 Global Power 150 list of women in staffing and is also in the North American Staffing 100 Hall of Fame.

“We are very thankful for all of Rebecca’s contributions to Randstad and recognize the tremendous impact she has had on our clients, talent and employees,” van ‘t Noordende said. “I have no doubt that she will continue to make a positive impact for women in the workplace.”

Wout Dekker, chair of Randstad’s supervisory board, also lauded Henderson.

“On behalf of the supervisory board, I would like to thank Rebecca for her remarkable contribution to Randstad over the last 11 years, in particular since joining the executive board in 2019,” Dekker said. “I would also like to congratulate all new executive leadership team members on their appointments.”
