Partners Personnel acquires Southern California staffing business

March 15, 2018

Partners Personnel, a new staffing agency launched by Select Staffing's former CEO Steve Sorensen, acquired SEARCH Group Partners Inc.’s Westlake Village, Calif., office, effective March 1.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

SGP, a boutique recruiting firm headquartered in Salt Lake City, expanded to Southern California in 2015 but will now focus on the Utah market. Founder and CEO Ema Ostarcevic and Debby Loesch, who developed its Southern California office, both worked for Sorensen previously in their careers.

SGP provides professional talent acquisition and consulting services including temporary, temp-to-hire, permanent placement and executive search. Targeted sectors include accounting and finance, office and administrative, technology, marketing and creative, human resources and executive search.

“It’s all very serendipitous when you think about it,” said Ostarcevic, who launched the firm six years ago after working for Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE: RHI) in New York. “Steve gave me my first job in the staffing industry. And now, he’s acquiring an office that I started with Debby, who worked for him for over 20 years.”

The Select Family of Companies acquired EmployBridge in 2015 for $410 million; both firms ranked among the largest US staffing firms. Sorensen completed his three-year noncompete obligation with Select in May 2017 and in July launched Partners Personnel, which is growing its presence in Southern California. In addition to the Golden State, Partners Personnel has offices in Illinois, North Carolina and Texas.

“It’s funny how things come together in life sometimes,” Sorensen said. “I’m thrilled to work with Debby again and have her team as an integral part of Partners Personnel.”
