Online job ads fall again, ‘no sign of a bounceback’

October 05, 2016

US online job ads fell by 93,800 in September to about 4.72 million, according to The Conference Board’s report on online job ads.

“The third quarter showed a small gain of 64,800 following large losses in the second quarter,” said Gad Levanon, chief economist, North America, at The Conference Board. “There has been no sign of a bounceback from the sudden steep losses in May and June.”

Only two of the 10 largest online job categories posted increases in September. Food preparation and serving-related ads increased by 3,700 to a total of 241,200 and installation, maintenance and repair ads rose by 1,400 to 191,200.

Healthcare practitioners and technical ads posted the largest loss, down by 23,700 to a total of 619,600, followed by sales and related ads, which fell by 22,100 to 465.200.
