New York to require predictable schedules for retail employees (Lexology)

November 13, 2017

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced new regulations designed to prevent retail employers from scheduling or canceling workers’ shifts hours before or after they start. The regulations will require employers to let employees know their schedules two weeks in advance and provide two hours’ extra pay for last-minute assignments, according to a Lexology.com blog post. They also will mandate that employers pay for at least four hours for shifts that are canceled 72 hours before the scheduled start time.
