New York State payroll debit card regulation struck down (The National Law Review)

February 22, 2017

The New York State Industrial Board of Appeals struck down regulations enacted in September that would significantly restrict the use of payroll debit cards and impose disclosure and consent requirements for direct deposit, The National Law Review reported. The regulations were to become effective on March 7. In striking down the regulations, the board noted that at least eight bills on payroll debit cards had been introduced in the New York State legislature in recent years, and none of the bills were enacted.
