The number of information technology jobs rose by 2,100 in August to 4,053,400 jobs, according to the TechServe Alliance’s monthly index of IT jobs.

IT jobs are up by more than 107,000 jobs from August 2010, or 2.7 percent.

The August IT index was adjusted to account for Verizon workers who were on strike the week the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics conducted the nation’s job count for August. Without the adjustment, the IT index would have fallen by 7,000 from July. The striking workers have since returned to work.
