CareerBuilder: Healthcare plans more hiring

January 28, 2010

The healthcare industry continued to add jobs even during the recession, and it appears poised to ramp up further in 2010, according to an annual survey by CareerBuilder.

The survey found that 22% of healthcare employers plan to increase the number of full-time permanent employees this year, up from 17% who said the same last year.

However, only 7% said they plan to use staffing firms and recruiters to fill open positions, according to the survey. In comparison, 25% plan to use online recruitment sites, 20% will use newspaper classifieds, 18% will use career fairs and 13% will use social and professional networking sites.

The survey was conducted between Nov. 5 and Nov. 23 among more than 240 healthcare employers.
