Canadian staffing index falls in February, but up over year on comparable day basis

March 21, 2017

The Canadian staffing index fell 7% in February from January. The index, which measures staffing activity in Canada, fell to a reading of 93 from a reading of 100 in January.

“The February index value was down 2% compared to the same month last year,” said Timothy Landhuis, research manager at Staffing Industry Analysts. “However, after adjusting for the fact that February this year had one less working day, the index reading suggests that overall volume of billed hours was up slightly year-over-year on a comparable days basis.”

Staffing Industry Analysts produces the index on behalf of the Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services.
