Adecco acquires legal firm D4

October 04, 2016

The Adecco Group acquired New York-based D4 LLC, which provides managed data and eDiscovery services to law firms and corporations. D4 will be combined with Special Counsel, Adecco’s legal staffing brand and the largest legal staffing firm in the US.

The deal expands Special Counsel’s US networks and expands its footprint to China.

The transaction closed Oct. 3; terms were not disclosed. The D4 brand will remain, and its headquarters will stay in Rochester, N.Y., with founder John Holland, continuing as CEO.

With annual revenue of approximately $30 million, D4 operates across the US and has a presence in Shanghai, China. Special Counsel recently expanded into London, and D4 adds to its international network.

“The combination of Special Counsel and D4 is an exciting step to further strengthen our offering in this attractive market.” Adecco Group CEO Alain Dehaze said.

“We are seeing tremendous growth in the eDiscovery space, and the appetite for these services continues to gain momentum within the legal community,” Special Counsel President Laurie Chamberlin said. “D4 was a pioneer of eDiscovery solutions when it was founded nearly two decades ago, and we are proud to bring them on board to offer a combined 45 years of legal industry know-how.”
