Staffing executive compensation up 4% to $1.7 million

Compensation for top executives at publicly traded staffing firms rose by a median 4.0% globally based on 2022 data, according to the Staffing Executive Compensation Analysis: 2023 Update report released Dec. 4 by SIA. The report looks at the two highest-paid executives at 42 publicly traded staffing firms around the globe.
Median compensation was $1.7 million, according to the report.
The report also noted the structure of executive compensation differs meaningfully across regions. However, the average structure includes base salary, bonuses, non-equity incentive plan payouts, option awards, stock awards and other compensation.
Looking at just the 24 North American firms, total median compensation at these companies rose a median 8.5% in 2022. Most of the North American firms tracked were in the US, with one in Canada. On the other hand, total compensation declined by a median 1.2% among the 15 firms tracked in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Three firms in Asia Pacific were tracked; in this region, total compensation increased by a median 57.6%.
The highest-paid executives among the 42 publicly traded staffing companies were Jonas Prising, CEO of ManpowerGroup Inc., with total compensation of $13.1 million, and Gary Burnison, president and CEO of Korn Ferry, with total compensation of $11.5 million.
