Large employers estimate their healthcare benefit costs will rise by an average of 8.9% next year compared with an average increase of 7% this year, according to a survey 72 large firms by the National Business Group on Health.
To combat the increases, 63% of employers planned to increase the percentage employees contribute to the premium, up from 57% who did this year. Also, 46% plan to raise out-of-pocket maximums next year compared with 36% who did this year.
